In this instalment of our 48-hour series, we have collaborated with the gorgeous and ever talented, Alexandra Robb. Having lived on the Gold Coast for the past ten years, Alex has given us her favourite places to stay, eat and sleep on the Coast. Check out her favourite hotspots below.
Stay
Halycon House
Halycon House is the boutique hotel from your Instagram dreams. Situated in the lovely Cabarita Beach, this beautifully decorated hotel has a gorgeous lounge bar and ‘Paper Daisy’ restaurant by the pool. We can guarantee you’ll enjoy your stay here.
Versace Hotel
If you’re after a luxury stay, then look no further than the Versace Hotel. Located in the lovely Main Beach, this hotel is ornate heaven. Beautifully designed with chandeliers and a big dining room for high tea, you’ll love everything about this hotel. Don’t forget to check out the outdoor pool area too, it is simply to die for.
Eat
Paddock Bakery
This indulgent bakery operates out of an old Queenslander house in the heart of Miami. Paddock Bakery is best known for great cold drip coffee and dippy eggs on a summers day. Or why not treat yourself to their signature Nutella doughnuts, they are seriously good!
Justin Lane Pizzeria & Rooftop Bar
This is Alex’s absolute favourite spot on the Gold Coast. Situated in the lovely Burleigh heads, this place serves up the best wood-fired pizza there is. The Justin Lane Pizzeria and Rooftop Bar has a great atmosphere and good tunes pumping all night. It is the perfect spot to spend a Sunday afternoon, with their house DJ’s playing and a cheeky Aperol Spritz.
Etsu
This Japanese restaurant is located on the Miami highway, be careful not miss it as this place is well hidden, with only a lantern our the front. Etsu is a moody venue with great food, delicious drinks, and amazing service. This place books out weeks in advance too, making it a hot spot on the Gold Coast. Inside its walls are covered with old Japanese magazines, which create a super cool vibe. Alex insists that you all try the Sashimi & ‘Prawns Isobe-age’, it’s amazing!
Drink
Grandad Jacks
Granddad Jacks is a new bar and Gin distillery located in Miami. The bar serves up signature gin that has been made on-site alongside a variety of cheese boards. With its great interior and even better service, Alex highly recommends this spot for all gin lovers out there. P.S they have a barbers corner in the bar, so what more could you ask for?
Justin Lane Pizzeria & Rooftop Bar
No, we haven’t messed up by putting this place on the list twice. Just as Justin Lane Pizzeria and Rooftop Bar has fabulous pizza on offer, they also have a happening rooftop bar that is the perfect place to spend your Sunday afternoon with an Aperol Spritz in hand.
Cambus Wallace
Located in Nobby’s beach, this sailor inspired bar is moody and quaint. The signature cocktails from this small, yet groovy spot will blow you away. Cambus Wallace is definitely not a place to be missed.
