The Harrolds Private Label Experience

November 1, 2017

This year Harrolds, the leaders in luxury suiting, relaunched its Private Label with an inspired new development. To celebrate, Shaun donned one of their key suits to the Caulfield Cup. We also caught up with menswear manager, Alex McKergow, from Harrolds’ Gold Coast store at the newly redeveloped Pacific Fair Shopping Centre to talk about the new venture in the Australian menswear market.

Harrolds is no stranger to suiting, having collaborated with and helped grow some of the leading authorities in the menswear industry. Their 100% Italian-made suits are garments of integrity, with a heritage brand and a totally new price point for the label.

“We’re talking half-canvassed, woollen suits in super fine 120s and 130s wool. It’s the perfect suit for the Australian climate, and you really are getting a premium product for an incredibly competitive price point”, said Alex.

After recognising a burgeoning generation of young men with a taste in suiting, Harrolds has adapted its offerings to appeal to those with a fresher take on tailored clothing.

“It’s a new generational youth that we’re trying to grow up with; those gentlemen who are coming through with our streetwear product, who then are familiar with us and our product when it’s time to buy their first suit.”

Alex also pointed out the brand’s strategically lower price point. “We have the experience to know how to offer a really excellent suit at an entry level price point, which makes it possible for these young guys to afford an Italian-made suit.”

The fabric is also sourced from Italian mills, and buyers can choose their fabrics with Harrolds’ made-to-measure service.

“It’s really interesting looking at some of the trends and styles that are coming through in menswear, especially those who are getting their suits for the Spring Racing Carnival. Checks are really big at the moment, with Prince of Wales being popular, all the way through to a really light check.”

Alex believes Harrolds Private Label and its place in the Australian menswear market is an easy decision for customers to make.

“The half canvas construction is so important – it’s a lot lighter, a neater silhouette, particularly with our Parigi cut, which is a much slimmer fit – but it’s also a big factor for the Australian climate. And in terms of the jackets themselves, they’re beautiful enough to be worn as a separate, so they’re very adaptable to the rest of the wardrobe.”

When it comes to reinventing their already leading name in Australian suiting, Harrolds Private Label has truly found its way.
