48 Hours with the W Hotel – Brisbane

July 4, 2019

Early this year we celebrated the global launch on The W Brisbane in Shanghai China. Now, it was time to actually feel, taste and experience what the new addition to the Brisbane skyline had. In this 48 hour trip, we not only explored what The W Brisbane has to offer for holiday goers, but what was available walking distance from its front doors in the CBD.

Climb the Story Bridge

Only 10 minute from The W Hotel is Brisbane’s most iconic bridge. ‘The Story Bridge” offers travellers an uninterrupted 360-degree views of Brisbane city. Stretching from the City across to the coastline, overlooking Brisbane’s residential areas. The round trip will take you around 2 hours to do. This includes check-in, harnessing up, safety briefing and of course the climb up both sides of the bridge. The experience will cost you $$$, but it’s a great way to conquer your fear of heights.

Lunch at The Three Blue Ducks

Right within the W hotel on level three sits one of Australia’s most popular restaurants. The Three Blue Ducks’ boys have impressed foodies with its Sydney establishment, and have dominated Byrons food scene with The Farm. A paddock to plate experience where everything is grown or feed on site, and accompanied by a spectacular fit out. As expected from previous TBD experiences, the Brisbane venue is nothing short outstanding. With sweeping views of Brisbane River you can enjoy a fresh menu of local organic meats, fresh caught Mortan Bay Bugs and vegetables.

Spa Treatment

The ultimate holiday or staycation has just got better, The W brisbane has one of the best Spa’s we have seen in house. You can treat yourselves to facials, massages, or a spa and sauna combination after a day of exploring the CBD of Brisbane city

GOMA

A short stumble over the bridge into South Bank and you can find one of Brisbane’s most visited museums, the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA). If the location isn’t already convenient enough for you, GOMA is free to enter. It is also a great starting point to explore South Bank and stop for a cocktail or drink at its many bars.

Sunset Cocktails at the WetDeck

In my opinion, this is the best way to wrap up the afternoon. Sunset snacks and cocktails over looking the Brisbane eye, South Bank and Mount Cootha in the distance. Make sure you order a few cocktails, the list is extensive and refreshing in Brisbane’s endless summer. Don’t forget to bring your swimmers incase you want to go for a quick splash in the pool.

Retire to the Room for Room Service

Depending how you are feeling after you finish your drinks by the pool, you have a tough decision to make. Head out and make the most of Brisbane’s night life or do what I’m doing: making the most of the plush beds and room service.
